At the Pen & Pencil Saturday night, we let loose. We ate, we danced, we conversed, we rejoiced. Our host was Bobbi Booker, NABJ-Philadelphia member-at-large, the first Black female president in the history of the Pen & Pencil. This journalists club was founded in 1892, and Booker is only its third female president.
We were surrounded on the walls with the artwork of Raphael Tiberino, artist-son of the renowned Philadelphia artist Ellen Powell Tiberino, who with her artist-husband Joseph, were fixtures in the Powelton Village area.
Members of NABJ-Philadelphia and the National Association of Black Journalists extended the celebration of the new NABJ-Philadelphia in this historic place as we also honored Booker.
